ADOPTION
POLICIES
Please read prior to submission of an application for adoption.
1. Safe Haven Animal Rescue Group,
Inc. dogs are placed into adoptive homes within a 200 mile radius of Charleston, WV if possible. If you are not in this area and are looking to adopt we will consider your application and if home visit
can be arranged with a rescue in your area we will process the application. We
will try to accommodate by transporting within a certain range to meet another transport.
2. A non-refundable adoption donation of 100. is required and
a legally binding Adoption Agreement must be signed at the time a dog is placed. The adoption donation should be made out
to Safe Haven Animal Rescue Group, Inc and is used to assure spay/neuter of the dog before it is placed. Adoption donations are not negotiable and payment must be made in full prior to the time of placement
of the dog.
3. All potential homes must complete our adoption process and must agree to abide by the terms of the
adoption agreement. A copy of the adoption agreement will be provided to potential adopters upon request.
4. Applicants
must provide veterinary and personal references and contact veterinary facilities to authorize release of their records to
a Safe Haven Animal Rescue Group, Inc representative upon request.
5. Applicants who rent their homes must verify that
they are permitted to have a dog and provide a landlord contact number on the adoption application. Landlords will be contacted
in every case - no exception.
6. The primary adopter must be at least 21 years old.
7. We are solely committed
to the dogs accepted into the rescue. We want to find them loving, permanent homes and go to great lengths to place the right
dog into the right family. We reserve the right to decline any adoption based on what we feel is in the best interest of the
dog.
8. Upon adoption, copies of all available records will be provided to the adopter. All animals are spayed or
neutered before adoption or, in the case of puppies less than 6 months of age, must be spayed or neutered by an agreed upon
date. Dogs have had the first series of 3 shots and been wormed. A second and
third shot will be required after adoption to assure dogs are protected. Rabies
shots are administered at the time of spay / neuter.
9. Prior to approval of any adopter, a home visit by a Safe Haven Animal Rescue Group, Inc volunteer
or in the case of out of state adoption a nearby approved rescue volunteer is mandatory. We do not ship dogs and there is
NO exception to this rule.
10. We do our best to accurately assess each of our dogs; however, SHARE carries no warranty
of any kind, express or implied.
